In Abkhazia, an unrecognized state in Central Asia, cryptomining has become a thriving industry. The locals, struggling with poverty, are driven to extreme measures; selling their land and livestock to set up a cryptocurrency farm in a barn, despite having limited knowledge of what Bitcoin is. However, this sudden surge in electricity consumption has resulted in an energy crisis, with the old power lines unable to cope with the demand. There are varying opinions on who or what is to blame; some attribute it to mining, others point fingers at corruption, while some believe it is a result of the country's low standard of living. The filmmaker embarks on a journey through the dimly lit streets of Abkhazia, in an attempt to uncover the truth behind this phenomenon.
Director of the film is Andrey Natotsinskiy — graduate of Alexander Sokurov’s workshop. DoP is Michail Pashkulskiy — graduate of Saint Petersburg School of New Cinema, Alexander Burov’s workshop.
